Vision
Ernie Rodriguez MINERO Vision
We have a vision for the Philippines
Just imagine for a moment a Philippines that is so rich, it is debt-free A Philippines where the Filipinos are proud to be called Filipinos A Philippines whose passport can go anywhere without a visa A Philippines which can be a lending country—in our lifetime A Philippines that is so economically rich that we can give many opportunities to our people A Philippines so blessed, it is a blessing to other countries
With MNERO, these are possible All of these things are possible within our lifetime
As you know, our country is rich in mineral resources We have 30 million hectares of land, and one-third of that is highly mineralized One-third means 10 million hectares Of those 10 million hectares, only 15 percent has been explored Even so, the 15 percent that has been explored is already equivalent to one trillion dollars—more than enough to pay our foreign debt and become a lending country in our lifetime
This does not count our mineral wealth in 22 million square kilometers of offshore waters, among which are not only the common minerals that we know but also oil and unlimited quantities of the fuel of the future, deuterium
The Philippines is known to be the third in the world in terms of gold deposits We are number 5 in nickel, number 6 in chromite, and number 10 in copper Not to mention platinum and other minerals on top of what was just mentioned
So we have the capability to be a rich country
But the irony is that we are a rich nation with poor people We are a rich nation where our people are hungry One out of five Filipinos goes hungry That's about 20 percent of our population We have the second highest malnutrition rate in the world—second only to Africa And we're also a country in debt Half of our billion-peso budget goes to debt servicing
In Deuteronomy 87-11, God gives Israel a land rich in biodiversity, where stones are made of iron and we may dig copper, so that there will always be food on the table And when there is food on the table, we can fulfill the reason why we were created—to always praise and worship the Lord So all of these things are given by the Lord for our own use—to mine the minerals so that we may have food on our table
But again, we have to do this responsibly—we cannot just mine and mine without taking care of the environment First and foremost, we should take care of the environment so that we can get the mineral wealth As stated in Haggai 28, The gold is mine, thus declares the Lord
So all of these things belong to the Lord Our job is to be good stewards of what belong to the Lord The Lord told us to take dominion; so if we are to take dominion, we have to be good stewards of the mineral wealth that belongs to the Lord
It's a very exciting thing to know that our country can transform itself in our lifetime to be a blessing to its people
Once again we would like to ask you to be our partners in this movement to transform the nation into a blessed country so that we can be a blessing to other peoples and to the whole world
