Video gratis A Glimpse of Where I've Been (Autobiographical Poem)
Video de This is a rather long poem I'm rather fond of it I think I wrote it at around 1 o'clock this morning and it lead to another poem and a lot of thought processes that shall lead to still other pieces in the near future I think
I shall be making another video soon introducing this piece and dissecting it a bit for you all It was long enough on it's own for me to put that off! -)
There were a few very minor errors in my reading which I have corrected here in the full text
I'd like to tell the tale of where I've been,
The roads I've walked, the things that I have seen
I'd like to show the world exactly how
I've come to be the person I am now
I've stories that could make a sailor cry,
Of childhood friends and dreams that had to die,
Of storm clouds that I never thought would clear,
And losing parts of me that I held dear
I've also memories to make me smile;
I'd love to speak about them for a while
The heroes that have walked across my stage
Deserve to be regaled on ev'ry page
Of ev'ry book I'd ever dream to write!
Their voices served to guide through deepest night
A mother who, without a shred of hope
Aside from faith, and often forced to grope
On hands and knees for any scrap of strength,
Still managed to instill in me, at length,
A bit of peace to calm a fearful heart
And taught me ev'ry semblance of my art
If I could find a way to tell the world
Exactly how my story has unfurled,
The gratitude I feel could be expressed,
And ghosts of moments past could fin'ly rest,
And I could feel my hardships were of use,
And the last grips of fear would fin'ly loose
Their icy hold And then, this aged mind,
Trapped in my youthful body could rewind,
Relax, and rest, and start a slower life
Without the heavy burden of past strife
But more than any reason I have said,
I'd simply like to hear my story read;
To watch the faces of those gathered round
And see the bits of wisdom that they've found
Within my past that I had never seen;
If only I could find where to begin,
I'd like to tell the tale of where I've been
